Low key photography is not
High contrast (chiaroscuro), underexposure, (anything so long as it’s got a) black background, or a backlit silhouette with no shadow detail.

Low key photography is
Low light, low contrast, rich shadow detail, minimal highlights, dark tones, low color saturation.
